Dahlia 'Farm Mix' (Dahlia sp.)

This is a one off offering of a bulk pack of open pollinated, freshly harvested dahlia seeds. Seed has been winnowed to remove chaff and most unviable seed, however grower is advised to feel out the mix for all firm seed. You may also bulk germinate the entire mix in trays and prick out germinants into pots.
The inaugural Three Dogs Flower Farm dahlia seed release! This is a blend of all varieties we grow here on the farm. Most of the seed mothers are fully double flowers, including pompones, and there's a selection of seeds in the mix collected from our favourite collarettes, Pinky O and Hillara Ice, and orchid Winkie Cupid. We don't keep cactus types except for one Gay Bright Eyes that somehow keeps popping up in our veggie patch, far away from our main dahlia patch.
Dahlias do no grow true to type from seed thanks to their whopping big genome. This gives every single plant grown from seed the potential to become a brand new variety! Some people swear that growing from seed is the most addictive way to grow dahlias. Do you dare to give it a try?
All seeds are grown right here on the farm in the NSW Southern Highlands.

HOW TO GROW: Sow seeds into cells 4 to 6 weeks before planting out after frost in spring. Presprouting between moist paper towels in a zip lock bag or container for 24 to 48 hours is beneficial, then sow your sprouted seed into chosen container.
PLEASE NOTE: Images are indicative of some of the dahlia cultivars in our collection. Seed has only been collected from named cultivars. You will not grow identical flowers to the above images, you may end up with lots of duds or some real beauties as is the luck of growing dahlias from seed.
