Orlaya 'White Lace' (Orlaya grandiflora)
APIACEAE
50 SEEDS APPROX. REGULAR
209+ SEEDS APPROX. FLOWER FARMER'S BULK
All seeds are grown right here on the farm in the NSW Southern Highlands. Seed freshly harvested in January 2026.
Orlaya is one classy umbellifer. Shorter growing (to 70cm) than your bog-standard Queen Anne's Lace, and with elegant, larger white petals. It's a beautiful spring to early summer filler and excellent for weddings. It can also be harvested after flowering as the green seed pods are a great textural ingredient. Once you have Orlaya, it's a great idea to leave a couple of plants to set seed as it's one that needs fresh seed to grow from. Will self seed freely if left to do so.
COOL SEASON HARDY ANNUAL
WHEN TO SOW: Sow autumn for the best stem length. Does not like hot temperatures and is very cold hardy.
HOW TO GROW: Sow fresh seed directly into the garden on the surface of the soil as seeds need light to germinate. Alternatively, you can sow into cells any plant out into the garden as seedlings, but do so quickly as Orlaya being in the Apiaceae grows a taproot. Keep soil moist, but not wet, while waiting for seeds to germinate. Can be slow and erratic to germinate, up to or longer than 21 days.
