Herbaria: Press Plants Like A Botanist

Have you noticed that pressed plants are having a bit of a moment? Are you interested in learning how to press your own plants but not sure where to start? Or possibly fine tune your existing plant pressing skills? Casey has extensive experience in herbaria and the art of pressing plants as a botanist, spending many years researching pressed plants in university and botanic gardens across the country. We invite you to join us for this affordable two hour on-farm workshop to learn how to create your own herbarium, aka, a pressed plant collection.

- Selecting and arranging specimens to press

- Labelling and recording

- Learn how to use a large botanist-grade plant press

- Take home your very own A4 sized botanist-grade plant press (value +$50)

- As this is a short workshop please bring your own snacks and water bottles. Tank water readily available for bottle refills.

About your demonstrator: Casey has over a decade of experience in the plant world, both as an ecological scientist and grower of flowers and heirloom vegetables. With many years under her belt writing university classes and educating students at both undergraduate and masters-level, Casey prides herself on being a high-quality educator skilled in communicating scientific and botanical information to a general audience. Casey is passionate about biodiversity, climate action, growing from seed, and making sustainable choices in all aspects of her business.

About the location: The workshop will take place at Three Dogs Flower Farm in Wingello. The sleepy, leafy rural village of Wingello in the NSW Southern Highlands is located just a few minutes off the Hume Highway, 1.5 hours from Canberra, Sydney, and Wollongong

On-Site Workshop Terms & Conditions: 

• Refunds or shop credit (purchasers choice) will be offered if Three Dogs Flower Farm must cancel or postpone the event for any reason.
• If you change your mind on attending the event, you will be eligible for a refund only if your ticket can be resold to a different attendee. If your ticket cannot be resold no refund can be provided.
• Refunds will not be given for no shows.
• We love children but this is an event for ages 18+ 
• We also love dogs but please do not bring your canine pal to our farm
• You agree to provide your own PPE when visiting Three Dogs Flower arm, including enclosed shoes, sun hat, sun cream.
• We endeavor to make our farm as safe as possible, however by purchasing a ticket to visit our farm you agree to take responsibility for your own personal safety and will enter at your own risk.
